You’re Traveling Again?

Friday, August 22, 2025

Yes, we are traveling again; however, I actually didn’t blog our two most recent trips - Bermuda in early August with Kate and family (sadly Tim and family could not make it work this summer); and then we also did Croatia to Venice with Tauck this past May 2025. I knew our schedule would be very busy on the Croatia trip; plus, we were traveling with friends (Rita & Kelly) and social time with them would definitely overrule me typing on my iPad. But I will say that Croatia and Montenegro, and Slovenia, are amazingly beautiful - go and visit if you can. Venice is very crowded but glad to say we were there. And where else can you arrive at your hotel via boat and then go to the airport via boat. As for Bermuda - who has time to blog when you’re sitting on the beach, playing with grandchildren, and drinking rum swizzles. It wouldn’t make for a very interesting read anyway.

But yes, we are now embarking on our second Tauck tour. This one to the Canadian Rockies (including Glacier National Park). Have always wanted to see this part of Canada 🇨🇦 And following this trip, we will extend it a bit flying to Denver to see the Colorado Rockies a play at Mile HIgh Stadium. Possible visit the denver Zoo or botanical gardens or a museum before we drive to Fort Collins to visit friends Lyn and Dave for a couple of days. Then off to Estes Park where Tim and family will join us for a day. Then back to Colorado Springs for a quick visit with the Aras family before flying home to Maryland.

It’s been a bit of a week prior to today. Last Sunday, we had planned a last minute cocktail party for all of our new neighbors at Four Seasons in Maryland - our new home. They have been so very nice and welcoming to us so I wanted to welcome them to our home. It’s been a hot summer here in Maryland and last Sunday was no exception. And wouldn’t you know that our A/C decided to stop working early afternoon before the party. It didn’t turn out to be too bad. Neighbors loaned us fans; plus there was a great breeze outside on our new patio (which was shaded by that point) - bottom line, everyone had a great time.

The next morning (Monday) Ed wakes up with a toothache - really?  Off he goes to the dentist who says he must go to an endodontist for a root canal. Get an appointment for Tuesday. Off we go Tuesday to the endodontist who says the tooth in question must come out (cracked root and all). So we manage to get an appointment with an oral surgeon for Wednesday. Tooth extraction is successful; although Ed needed a bit of pampering overnight into Thursday. OH, yes, and we were trying to pack as well. And, of course, still no A/C.  But we will not complain. The weather this past week cooled down a bit thanks to Hurricane Erin making her way up the east coast. So sleeping has not been an issue. But we are still waiting for the A/C part to come in.  Fortunately, those nice neighbors I talked about? One of them (thank you Cheryl & Kip) will oversee the installation for us while we are gone, We are now hoping it happens Monday.

Our Tauck trip is Calgary to Calgary. We will visit many national parks including Glacier in Montana, and then back to Canada to Lake Louise, Banff, Jasper National Park, and the Icefields Parkway. I’m sure I’ll left something out

We are currently in route to Calgary with a layover in Minneapolis/St Paul, which is allowing me to start this blog. The actual tour begins Saturday night at 5pm. We are flying a day early for sanity sake among other reasons,

So stay tuned, EH?, for more detail and pictures as we visit what looks like an absolutely beautiful part of this world (bad humor). We will actually do some apologizing to the Canadians for the awful behavior of these United States lately. Hoping they forgive us.

til then,

Betsy
