Hola from Barcelona

 Tuesday, February 13 2023

When we woke up this morning we had arrived at the port of Barcelona. It looked to be a beautiful day. I’m still a little slow going in the morning with the congestion from this cold working its way out. We spent a relaxing day - some of it out on the deck as the weather was beautiful. We also got our suitcases packed prior to our evening excursion.

Around 5pm we headed on our tour to see a Flamenco show. A light tapas meal was included, along with Sangria, wine, and water. The tapas came fast and furious - not of us were quite sure what each course was but we tasted it all and enjoyed the food. We were set at tables that ran up to the stage. Our seats were literally right next to the small stage so what a view.

Flamenco dancing is an interesting art that continues. We had listened in a history talk about it the previous day on the ship - which helped us to know what to look for, etc. - not that I can share any of that specific information with you. My brain is a bit on overload from all our experiences.

The group consisted of 5 men and 3 women. Two of the men were the guitar players. Another two were singers and kept the beat through clapping and tapping. The third man also helped with the beat and was also a dancer. The ladies and their dancing were just incredible. The passion in their faces and their movements were amazing. And the stomping of their feet, clapping and snapping of their fingers - superb. We were very happy we had gone to this performance - a nice welcome into Spain.

Back to the ship by 8:30 pm to put the finishing touches on our packing and get our suitcases out in the hallway by 10pm so they could be taken off the ship to the dock for the next morning.

Buenas tardes!

Betsy
